Navigating the Factory Interface: A Visual Tour
The Yaeltex Factory is our intuitive web application designed to empower you to functionally and aesthetically create your very own custom MIDI controller. It's the space where you can explore available components, see a real-time quote for your design, and ultimately bring your unique controller to life.
Let's walk through how to navigate and use the Factory.
1. Getting Started: Choosing Your Canvas
Your design journey in the Factory begins with a crucial first step.
Choose a Case Size & Orientation: On the Factory's landing page, you'll find examples of our various case sizes (Small, Medium, Long, and Big) and orientations (horizontal or vertical). Select the combination that best suits your vision and needs. This is the one choice that cannot be changed later!
2. The Working Area: Build & Appearance Views
Once you've selected your case, you'll enter the main working area. This space is divided into two primary views, which you can switch between at any time:
- Build View: Focuses on the functional design of your controller—what components go where.
- Appearance View: Dedicated to the aesthetic design and customization—how your controller looks.
3. The Build View: Crafting Functionality
The Build view is where you lay out the core components of your controller.
The Toolbox
Located on the right side of the screen, the Toolbox contains all our available Elements. Elements are the building blocks of your controller – groups of components like buttons, faders, encoders, and joysticks.
Adding & Arranging Elements
Simply drag an element from the Toolbox and drop it onto your case. Once placed, you can:
- Move them around
- Rotate them
- Erase them
The Hardware Calculator
- Component Count: Shows how many components of each type you are using compared to the total available within the Yaeltex framework (e.g.,
Used / Max Available). - Real-Time Price: Displays the current cost of your controller as you design it.
Other Tools
Look for helpful buttons like "Fit to screen" to see your entire design, or "Undo" to revert the last action.
4. The Appearance View: Defining Your Style
Switch to the Appearance view to customize the visual look of your controller.
Background Customization
You have several options for your controller's background:
- Choose a plain color
- Upload your own image
- Pick an image from our curated gallery
Element Aesthetics
Many elements can be visually customized. Options can include:
- Adding text labels
- Choosing different cap styles for knobs
- Selecting various indicators
5. Naming and Saving Your Project
- Name Your Project: Click on "my project" to give your controller design a unique name.
- Access Unfinished Projects: All your designs are automatically saved to your account. You can access these "unfinished projects" anytime through your account profile.
6. Completing Your Design: "Make It!"
Once you're happy with both the functional layout and the aesthetic appearance of your controller:
- Click the "Make It!" button.
- This will lead you through the checkout process, where you will be shown the expected delivery time and shipping price.
- Community Sharing (Optional): You'll have the option to allow other people to buy or remix your design. If you choose to share it, your design will appear in the community gallery, and you will be credited as the original designer.
7. Getting Help in the Factory
If you need assistance or have questions while using the Factory app:
- Look for the question mark icon (?) on the top right corner of the screen for online help resources.
- Chat with us directly using the chat widget on the page.
The Yaeltex Factory provides a powerful yet user-friendly interface to create a MIDI controller that is uniquely yours, both in function and style. Happy designing
