Articles on: The Factory: Designing Your Controller

Working with Cases: Materials & Properties

The case is the very foundation of your Yaeltex controller. It's the physical housing that protects the internal electronics, the sturdy chassis that holds all your custom components, and the creative canvas for your unique aesthetic design.

Understanding the properties of our cases will help you choose the perfect starting point for your dream controller.

A Canvas for Every Need: Our Case Sizes

The first and most important decision you'll make in the Factory is choosing a case. We offer four standard sizes to accommodate every type of workflow, from compact travel rigs to sprawling studio centerpieces.

Small Case

Ideal for focused, portable controllers or for complementing an existing setup.

  • Physical Dimensions: 240mm x 210mm x 34mm
  • Grid Dimensions: 16 x 28 Grid Units (GU)
  • Approximate Weight: 1.3 kg

Medium Case

A versatile, all-around size that offers a great balance between component space and a manageable footprint on your desk.

  • Physical Dimensions: 310mm x 240mm x 34mm
  • Grid Dimensions: 32 x 24 Grid Units (GU)
  • Approximate Weight: 2 kg

Long Case

With its wide aspect ratio, this case is perfect for layouts with long-throw faders, expansive step-sequencers, or a large number of horizontal controls.

  • Physical Dimensions: 450mm x 210mm x 34mm
  • Grid Dimensions: 16 x 48 Grid Units (GU)
  • Approximate Weight: 3 kg

Big Case

Our largest canvas, providing maximum space for complex, all-in-one controllers with a high density of faders, buttons, and knobs.

  • Physical Dimensions: 450mm x 345mm x 34mm
  • Grid Dimensions: 36 x 48 Grid Units (GU)
  • Approximate Weight: 4 kg

Note: Final weight will vary slightly depending on the specific components you choose.

Premium Materials & Craftsmanship

We believe a controller should feel as good as it performs. That's why we use only high-quality, durable materials.

  • The Faceplate: Robust Aluminum

The top surface of your controller is a 2mm thick aluminum panel. This provides an incredibly durable and rigid surface for all your components and serves as the perfect canvas for your custom, high-resolution printed design.

  • The Body: Sustainable Lenga Wood

The main body of the case is handmade from beautiful Lenga wood, sustainably sourced from Patagonia, Argentina. This gives every controller a unique, organic feel and a touch of natural warmth.

Pro Tip: To maintain the beauty of the Lenga wood, we recommend using a dedicated wood cleaning product. Avoid using alcohol-based cleaners on the wooden case.

Professional Connectivity & Power

The back panel of every case is equipped with a modern, professional suite of I/O to ensure seamless integration into any studio or live setup.

  • Dual USB-C Communication Ports: Connect to two computers or devices (like a computer and an iPad) simultaneously. This is perfect for complex performance rigs, B2B DJing, or controlling multiple applications at once.
  • Dedicated USB-C Power Port: Provides rock-solid, stable power for the most demanding setups. While the controller can operate on USB bus power alone, using an external USB-C power supply ensures all your LEDs shine at their maximum, brilliant potential.
  • MIDI TRS Ports (IN/OUT/THRU): Full MIDI connectivity on the modern TRS standard allows you to integrate seamlessly with external hardware synthesizers, drum machines, and other gear.

Ready for the Road: Included Accessories

Every Yaeltex controller, regardless of size, includes a beautiful and practical custom-fitted soft flight case. This case is designed to perfectly protect your unique creation during transport and storage, so you can take your controller from the studio to the stage with confidence.
